Garden tours at Myrton's Folly

A view across the gardens to the lawn

Avid gardeners looking for ideas or garden tourists, Myrton's Folly offers something for everyone interested in gardens.

Myrton's Folly is an informal garden with colour in every season. It is open all year round via appointment.

Developed from a bare block of farmland the garden includes open lawn, mature trees, hard landscaping features, New Zealand natives and a wide variety of flowering annuals and perennials.

The gazebo in summer

In spring, daffodils and grape hyacinths give the first bursts of colour. The garden contains over 100 rhododendrons and camellias which are at their most stunning from October onwards. Flowering cherries, clematis and bearded iris also give a wonderful display; and of course the roses.

In summer the borders are edged with blue agapanthus, and summer flowering perennials put on their show of colour.

Our driveway is lined with claret ash trees which turn a spectacular rich red wine colour in the autumn. The cherries turn crimson along with all the other spectacular deciduous trees.

A gorgeous rhododendron

The garden is planted with ample evergreen trees and shrubs so that even on dismal winter days there is always colour and contrast from the grey green of the conifers and the yellow of the cypress.
